Popular Mechanics' 2017 'SUV of the Year' Award Goes To The Nissan Armada

At the 2017 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), the Nissan Armada was chosen out a sea of competitors as the "SUV of the Year". Popular Mechanics' magazine hands out this award every year and this year the Nissan Armada drove away with the prize.

Popular Mechanics' Commendations

The editorial staff from Popular Mechanic's mentioned a variety of reasons behind their choice.

  • Its Size - The Nissan Armada has an abundance of space. It can be utilized in multiple different ways. If you need to drive a lot of passengers, the Armada has three rows of seats that can fit up to eight people comfortably. Perhaps you still need to transport your family, but you need some extra cargo space or you have a lot of cargo to haul with just you and your significant other. The Nissan Armada contains both second and third row seats that can be completely folded down to make more room. The second row seats also have the capability of being split 60/40, in case you need a few extra seats.
  • Its Price - The editors commented, "The Armada delivers a luxury-SUV experience at a Nissan price." For an eight-passenger luxury SUV with a starting MSRP of $44,900 we couldn't agree more.
  • Its Capabilities - With a 390 horse-power, 5.6-liter Endurance V8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission, the Nissan Armada has power to combat its size. It also features both an available 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive and an 8,500-pound of standard towing capacity.
